On June 11th we hosted a launch party for fedora 13 at Managua. It was a simple event within a larger frame, as was part of a group of events in Central America. We follow all the guidelines for events of this type of events, requesting resources, announcing the events and most important making reports. So we accomplish our mission and got a reward. We got a dinner to celebrate. It is got to have a pat in the shoulder from time to time.
What I found from this is really surprising. It has been to me the most difficult activity to coordinate related to fedora so far. When it came to events everyone is focused and driven. Going out for dinner made everyone shy. The team is really amazing, most of them are collaborating also with Sugar. We find all together in a Sugar activity, so finally we agreed that we will be having lunch instead of dinner. Then it came to decide where we will having lunch… another bunch of emails, we even got a online survey. Some days later we decided to take the word for it and have nice meal not just pizza. I have to confess that I was a bit pushy on this issue, as everybody were looking for regular pizza.
Another surprise was that we agreed on August 7th, and that is Joel’s birthday. As we decided to go for TGI Friday’s, he had birthday song, but he refused to dance.
We should do something like this more often, took time to talk and relax. I am glad we came all together.

El 11 de Junio celebramos el lanzamiento de Fedora 13 en Managua. Fue un evento simple dentro de un marco mayor, fue parte de un grupo de eventos en Centroamérica. Seguimos todas las reglas para eventos de este tipo: Solicitud de recursos, anuncios y más importante los reportes de los eventos. Asi q ue nosotros cumplimos nuestra misión y obtuvimos una recompensa. Nosotros obtuvimos un cena para celebrar. Es bueno obtener una palmada en el hombro de vez en cuando.
Lo que aprendi de todo esto fue realmente sorprendente. Ha sido la actividad más difícil de coordinar relacionada con Fedora hasta el momento. Cuando s e trata de eventos todos se enfocan y se motivan. Salir a cenar hizo a todos volverse tímidos. El equipo es realmente increíble, casi todos estan colaborando con Sugar. Nos encontramos todos en una actividad relacionada con Sugar, asi que finalmente acordamos ir a almorzar en lugar de salir a cenar. Luego vino decidir a que lugar iriamos … otra cantidad de correos, hasta incluso tuvimos una encuesa en línea. Algunos días despues tomamos la palabra de tener una buena comida no solo pizza. Tengo que confesar que presioné un poco en este asunto, todos estaban apuntando por una pizza comun.
Otra sorpresa fue que nosotros acordamos en almorzar el 7 de Agosto, y ese es el cumpleaños de Joel. Como decidimos ir a TGI Friday’s, el tuvo canción de cumpleaños, aunque se rehusó a bailar.
Nosotros deberiamos hacer algo asi más amenudo, tomar tiempo para platicar y relajarnos. Estoy contento de habernos reunidos a todos juntos.
